Today on the Michael Medved Show, Jay Richards Will Discuss Darwinian Economics and the Morality of the Free Market

about_Jay.pngDarwinism as a science is controversial enough. What about Darwinism as…economics? That’s the subject of today’s Science & Culture Update, in the second hour of the Michael Medved Show, when Mr. Medved’s guest is Discovery Institute senior fellow Jay W. Richards.

The morality of capitalism is a question Dr. Richards writes about in his recent New York Times bestseller Infiltrated, as in his earlier book Money, Greed, and God.

Among other recent provocative statements, Pope Francis has decried the international "cult of money." Closer to home, President Obama says that Republicans push a "thinly veiled social Darwinism." Is the free market an amoral system where only the fittest survive and thrive?

While some identify capitalism with Darwinism, Karl Marx had a high regard for Darwinian theory. Lenin, on his desk in the Kremlin, had a statuette of a monkey contemplating a human skull with the word "DARWIN" embossed on it. Stalin credited Darwin with his conversion to atheism.

For a fascinating discussion of science and culture, money and morality, join Jay Richards and Michael Medved at 1 pm Pacific Time, or 4 pm Eastern. Listen on the radio, or online by going here.
