Good News for the Procrastinators: Summer Seminar Application Deadline Extended Until April 30

When I was a student (which was within the last decade), I was so busy with classes and extracurricular activities that my faculty advisers were constantly telling me to cut things out of my life. Looking back, it was probably good advice — though I wasn’t quite ready to take it at the time. Thus, I have sympathy — and good news — for students who have been wanting to apply to Discovery Institute’s Summer Seminar on Intelligent Design but have been too busy to do so: We’re extending the application deadline until April 30!

We had previously announced the application deadline would be April 18, but we’re happy to extend the deadline until April 30, and let some more of the last minute applicants get their information in.
For those who aren’t familiar with the Summer Seminar, it’s a 9 day program where students can come to Seattle and learn about ID from top scholars and scientists in the field. The program goes from July 11-19. Lodging and meals are covered by Discovery Institute, and we have many scholarships to cover travel (so if you need help with travel, there’s a good chance we can provide it).

The program is for junior class undergrads and higher, or graduate students. There are two tracks: a science track (titled the “Seminar on Intelligent Design in the Natural Sciences”) and a humanities track (titled the “C.S. Lewis Fellows Program on Science and Society”). Both tracks deal with scientific issues but the C.S. Lewis track deals also with humanities, law, and social-science related issues. More information, including online applications, can be found at www.discovery.org/sem.

All that is needed for the application is to fill out the requested information and provide the following 4 items:

  • 1. Resume
  • 2. Letter of rec from an ID-friendly source
  • 3. Copy of applicant’s academic transcript
  • 4. A short (one page) statement of applicant’s interest in ID within their field of study

And please don’t forget to pass this information on to your friends and colleagues — especially students — if you think they might be interested!
