Awesome: Illustra Media’s Flight Reveals Bird Embryo Development

There’s nothing murky or ambiguous about the images in this clip from the new DVD from our friends at Illustra, Flight: The Genius of Birds. It’s the the development of a chick embryo, and it happens in 21 days flat. I’ve never seen anything that can compare to it for vividness.
Paul Nelson, Ann Gauger, and Timothy Standish emphasize not only the wonder but the astonishingly detailed and rapid choreography involved — “an elaborate dance,” says Dr. Gauger. But it’s even more than that: “It transcends anything we know.” Watch this now.
